URBANMOOCHER is NO Longer

I decided to start this blog to help those learn the secrets of couponing. This blog takes a great deal of my time: time scanning circulars and matching coupons, scanning other coupon blogs to see if their hot deals are “good” for my audience and then rewriting these blogs to make them my own, creating unique blogs such as DIY and Recipes to offer a better sense of using those deals and on and on.  Because the blog takes up so much time and I make ZERO Dollars doing this, I decided not to renew the subscription.  I encourage you to continue your coupon shopping and stockpiling, creating menus from your hot deals at the grocery stores and learning that using coupons is a means to saving money.

I will continue to teach Coupon Classes at Frisco Family Services and continue searching for those  great deals. If you see me with my large coupon binder, stop and say hello!!  It has been a wonderful year and I do hope that my blog was of service to each and every one of you.

DIY: Making Homework fun with Shaving Cream

School is just around the corner which means homework time and those cries
and whinning of “Don’t want to do my homework!” I have a creative idea that
will make homework a bit more fun and exciting. I tried this with my kids
when I taught and it worked out great. It’s simple—shaving cream!

Yes, I sprayed shaving cream on their desktops and had them complete addition,
subtraction and spelling. They were not only excited to play with the shaving
cream but didn’t mind working one bit….so it was a win-win!

To make things even better add food coloring to the shaving cream so they have
that special color. This worked for homework as well. I would spray a bit on
a cookie sheet and quiz my son on his vocabulary words….Wonderful!

You will Need:
Foaming shaving cream
Food coloring
Baking sheet

Sray some shaving cream onto tray, add a couple of drops of food coloring to cream,
stir and begin to have some fun.

What’s for Dinner? Tex-Mex Chicken n Rice Gravy

My husband made this wonderful dish this past weekend and it was absolutely delicious.  It came together rather oddly; he asked me what he should make and I said why not make chicken n rice nachos. He said why not chicken in gravy with rice. Ok sounds good and it was sooo good and easy to make.

Ingredients for Chicken n Gravy:

2 Chicken breasts (if thighs use 4 to 6)

1 cup chicken broth

1 T corn starch

1/4 c diced onion

1/4 c diced bell peppers

1 clove garlic diced

1 t cumin

salt and pepper to taste

Cilantro Rice:

1 c rice

2 cups chicken broth

1 T Cilantro

salt and pepper to taste

For chicken n gravy, cube chicken into 1/2 inch cubes. I pan add 1 T oil with onions and bell peppers, saute until tender. Add chicken and cook for 7 to 8 minutes stirring chicken to brown on all sides. in a small bowl add broth and stir in corn starch, stir well then pour into pan with chicken. add spices  then Let simmer for a few minutes-5 to 6.

Meanwhile, pour rice into pot with 2 cups of broth—vegetable or chicken broth will work—you can even use water. I find using broth helps add a bit more flavor to rice. Bring rice to a boil, cover and lower temp to low and let sit for 15 minutes.  Once ready stir in cilantro with a fork. You can open a can of beans—black or pinto–and heat.

Once chicken n gravy and rice are ready, pour yourself a heaping spoonful of rice, top with beans then chicken n gravy.  We are our meal so quickly that I forgot to take a picture for you.
